Här kan du gå kurser på 1-3 veckor med massor av olika inriktningar: modedesign, mode-kommunikation, filmskapande, foto, teater, musikal, dans, grafik & illustration, måleri & teckning, 3D-design, animation och speldesign.
Om skolan
Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts (CSVPA) är en privat skola som under läsåret erbjuder 3-åriga högskoleutbildningar och även utbildningar på masternivå. Skolan ligger i Cambridge och har mer än 30 års erfarenhet. Under sommaren arrangeras ett stort antal sommarkurser för ungdomar. Ca 10% av deltagarna kommer från Storbritannien, men majoriteten är alltså från andra länder.
Skolan har mycket gott rykte och samarbeten med exempelvis University of the Arts London Awarding Body, Trinity College London och tidskrifter som Hearst Magazine, ELLE, ELLE Decoration, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire and Cosmopolitan.
Förkunskaper
Kurserna inkluderar inga engelsklektioner. Engelskan är arbetsspråket mellan lärare och elever och därför förutsätter kurserna goda förkunskaper. Inträdeskrav är för de flesta kurser kunskaper motsvarande IELTS 4.5, vilket man vanligen har efter första året på gymnasiet med Engelska 5. Undantaget är Art & Designkurserna på 1 vecka där kravet på engelska är motsvarande IELTS 4.0. Eventuellt ber vi dig göra ett enklare språktest i samband med ansökan. Däremot krävs inga förkunskaper i ämnet för kursen.

Summer Portfolio Preparation
(3 veckor)

- This unique, tailored programme is designed for students who have limited experience in art and design and want to develop their skills base and understand how to build a portfolio
- Over the three weeks you will develop your skills in: Fashion, Graphic Design, Illustration, 3D Design, Moving Image, Drawing and Theatre Arts.

Fashion

- Through a combination of studio work and excursions, this 2 week Fashion course will introduce you to the design side of the industry. You will take part in workshops that are aimed at building a basis of creative skill necessary for further education in the creative arts.

BROADEN YOUR SKILLS IN THE FASHION WORLD
Through a series of fun and practical workshops you will experience a range of new techniques aimed at building a basis of creative skills necessary for further educational courses in Fashion.
EXPERIENCE DESIGN & FASHION IN THE UK
Explore the UK fashion industry through excursions to places such as the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) or the Fashion & Textile Museum in London, the only museum in the UK solely dedicated to showcasing developments in contemporary fashion.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
By the end of the programme, you will have:
- gained knowledge of the garment design and making process from our highly experienced staff
- Been introduced to design briefs that challenge your understanding and knowledge of contemporary fashion.
- Experienced the fast paced process of putting together a fashion show guided by the same team that work on our Foundation fashion shows.
Film Making

BROADEN YOUR SKILLS IN THE INDUSTRY
Through workshops, group projects and practical tasks, you will become acquainted with the skills and knowledge that will serve as a perfect starting point for future education and possible careers in the Film and TV production industry. Throughout the course you will become familiar with storyboarding, visual effects, special effects and animation along with relevant software such as Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
EXPLORE THE UK FILM & TELEVISION INDUSTRY
Field trips will form a fundamental part of the course and you will get to explore UK attractions such as Warner Bros. Studio Tour: Harry Potter Experience and local film previews. Actual field trips will be confirmed closer to the course start, depending on availability.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
By the end of the programme, you will have:
- Explored a range of practical and theoretical themes connected to the film industry, television and animation industries.
- Had the chance to solve creative briefs through a range of techniques and skills guided by our highly experienced staff.
- Had access to equipment including cameras and editing software.
- Had the chance to present your films to staff and fellow students in a night of premiers complete with popcorn and red carpets.

ACTING
This two-week course is ideal for students who want an intensive and fun introduction to drama and acting techniques. In the first week, professional actors lead students through drama exercises designed to help develop creativity, spontaneity, freedom and authenticity in performance. In the second week, the ensemble work together to rehearse a short production, performed for an invited audience.

MUSICAL THEATRE
This popular, fun and challenging course is led by theatre professionals, all of whom have musical theatre credits in London and/or New York. Students can expect a series of rigorous and intensive classes per week in singing, dance and acting, geared towards a cabaret style performance at the end of the second week.

YOU WILL BE INTRODUCED TO DRAWING TECHNIQUES, 3D MAKING SKILLS AS WELL AS PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWING YOU TO EXPLORE THE PRODUCT DESIGN PROCESS FROM CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT THROUGH TO DESIGN. Exploring idea generation through material investigation and fabricating processes, you will gain an understanding of the basic skills required for a wide range of 3D design disciplines. Through experimentation and quick fire responses to the brief, you will start to understand the idea behind key 3D Design principles, including scale, abstraction, material, structure, form movement and colour and their place within wider design pathways.

1. You will, through problem solving, create 10 outcomes answering the brief based around redesigning a single object.

3. Project will culminate in a group presentation of outcomes that peers will be able to discuss new ideas and skills developed over the week’s activities.

THIS NEW AND EXCITING ONE-WEEK COURSE IS IDEAL FOR ANY BUDDING ANIMATOR STARTING OUT WHO WANTS TO DEVELOP THEIR TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL TECHNIQUES USED IN COMPUTER ANIMATION. OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEK, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF CHARACTER DESIGN, LAYOUT AND STORY BOARDING. USING 2D AND 3D CHARACTER ANIMATION, TOGETHER WITH EDITING CONVENTIONS YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO PRODUCED ANIMATED SEQUENCES AND STORIES CULMINATING IN THE CREATION OF A SHORT ANIMATED FILM.

BROADEN YOUR SKILLS IN THE INDUSTRY
Through workshops, group projects and practical tasks, you will become acquainted with the skills and knowledge that will serve as a perfect starting point for future education and possible careers in the animation industry. Throughout the course you will become familiar with storyboarding, 3D modelling, sculpting, animation and rigging along with relevant software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, ZBrush and Blender.

AIMED AT INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE FOR GAMES, THIS CREATIVELY AND TECHNICALLY DEMANDING ONE-WEEK COURSE EXPLORES THE CREATIVE POSSIBILITIES IN DEVELOPING YOUR OWN GAME. USING A RANGE OF SOFTWARE PACKAGES TO CREATE 3D CHARACTERS AND BACKGROUNDS YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP GAME NARRATIVES, CHARACTERS AND PLOTS. YOU WILL BEGIN TO THINK AND WORK LIKE A GAMES DESIGNER, UNDERSTANDING HOW TO CREATE GAME CHALLENGES, RULES AND LOGIC. Throughout the week, you will learn how to design and build a sector piece for a game, start to design the backdrops on paper and research using Padlet for mood boards You will also gain an understanding of concepts for games, game engines and will receive an introduction to texturing.

Fritid
Cambridge är en fantastisk och inspirerande stad med vackra gamla byggnader, grönområden och floden Cam som långsamt flyter genom staden. Men Cambridge är också en modern och aktiv stad full av shoppingmöjligheter och ett nöjesliv riktat mot unga människor.
I kurspriset ingå flera kvällsaktiviteter per vecka, t.ex. klubbkvällar, bio, videospel, sportaktiviteter och guidning till Cambridges street-art.
I alla kurser på mer än en vecka ingår även en heldagsutflykt på lördagar. Det brukar vara besök av brittiska sevärdheter som det historiska slottet Windsor eller Wimpole Estate, konstgallerier i London eller Norwich och t.ex. en djurpark.
Fritidsaktiviteterna är obligatoriska för deltagare under 18 år.

Boende
Varsity House
Alla kursdeltagare bor på det moderna studenthemmet Varsity House som ligger på ca 20-25 min promenad från skolan. Ungefär lika långt är det till centrum av Cambridge. Det går också bussar eller man kan hyra en cykel.
Du har eget rum med säng, garderob, skrivbord och badrum. På studenthemmet finns ett gemensamt kök, tvättstuga och en uteplats med bl.a. ute-gym.
I kurspriset ingår frukost, lunch och middag. Samtliga måltider serveras i studenthemmets cafeteria. Boendet är tillgängligt från söndagen före kursstart till lördagen efter kursens slut.

Vanliga frågor om boende
På alla våra kursorter hjälper vi till att boka boende. Ordnar du eget boende kan vi alltid ge dig ett pris på enbart kurs.
I de flesta boenden är ankomstdagen söndag före kursens start och avresedagen lördag efter kursens slut, men det finns många undantag. Du får information med vår bekräftelse.
Du har alltid möjlighet att fråga oss om att boka extranätter men det är inget vi kan garantera.
Boende i familj
Om du bor i familj bor du som ensam svensk. Endast om skolan inte finner andra lämpliga alternativ kan det i undantagsfall inträffa att två svenskar placeras tillsammans. Givetvis får du också bo med en kamrat om du begär det. Ni kan också ha önskemål om att bo nära varandra.
Att bo i familj innebär ibland en familj med barn i varierande ålder. Men det är lika vanligt med ett äldre par eller en ensamstående dam med gott om utrymme och lust att prata!
Måltiderna i familj: Frukostpension innebär att endast frukosten är inkluderad. I halvpension ingår en måltid till, vanligen middag. Helpension inkluderar alla måltider. Lunchen består ofta av ett lunchpaket som medtas till skolan.
Bor du i familj kan du inte räkna med att kunna använda köket för egen matlagning, mer än om det anges i vår beskrivning av boendet eller om värden erbjuder dig det.
Självständigt boende
Många vill ha ett mer självständigt boende än i familj. Därför har vi särskilt valt ut många skolor som erbjuder delad lägenhet, studenthem eller skolans residens. På en del kursorter erbjuder vi även lägenhetshotell eller hus.
Att bo i delad lägenhet med andra studenter är ett populärt och prisvärt alternativ som bäst passar "unga vuxna". Du väljer eget eller delat rum och delar gemensamma ytor som kök och badrum.
Bor du i lägenhet eller annan inkvartering försöker skolorna göra en så bra blandning av nationaliteter och åldersgrupper som möjligt.
